If you are concerned about your future then you could be looking for ways to make money online. We all know that the old certainties such as a job for life, are gone, forever. The future is potentially a very grim place where the dream of financial security and having enough to live on, is let’s face it, pretty much non-existant.

Drive people to your sites, get them signed up to a list, and hopefully they keep on buying whatever products you have to sell. And then of course make lots of money and live happily ever after. And as theories go, isn’t it GRRRRREAT.

However, the reality is just a wee bit different from the theory. Yes the theory is simple, yes it doesn’t take a genius to learn how to do this, yes the potential is VAST, and yes you might never be able to make the theory work.

If you can get people signed up to monthly programs then you have an income, any product sales that you get are a bonus. With programs you can get lost in the crowd, because there can be a lot of people all promoting the same thing, and it can be difficult trying to find people who feel about the program the way that you do. One of the things that you will need when you build your list is an autoresponder, GVO includes a heavy duty autoresponder, and they let you build a list of 20,000 before they start to charge you, take a look on the net at how much you would have to pay every month for an autoresponder with that size of list. And of course one of the ways that you can make money online is to promote GVO or to set yourself up as a reseller.

There are ways to make money online that don’t require a site, but you are more likely to succeed if you have a web prescence, it helps to build know, like and trust in you.

If you are worried about not being particularly technical then don’t worry, I have really struggled with the technical stuff. You will find that there can be a lot of things that you can bang your head against the wall trying to figure them out, and when you do you can’t beleive how simple it is. It doesn’t matter when you get your site ready, but as soon as you have enough content on the site then get it on the web. You can waste so much time doing silly little things that get you nowhere, the important thing is to get something up that sells, you can make improvements as you go along.

You will have probably heard that the money is in the list, and you heard right. You need to build a large a list as possible of people who trust you, who you build a relationship with, and who will be happy to buy from you. Don’t rely on people always coming to your site, they might look at half a dozen or more before they pick one to buy from. If you treat your list right and provide them with quality information, then they are more likely to buy from you. O.K, so you’ve worked out what ways to make money online that you’re going to use, you’ve found some products to sell, you’ve set up your blog, you’ve got an autoresponder to build your list, now what. This is where the work really begins because you have to promote your site. You can do this using the labour intensive tool of traffic exchanges, where you can spend an eternity watching other peoples offerings, just so that they can see yours, and there is no guarantee of a sale. The one that I would recomend is Trafficswarm, there’s no guarantee of sales but as you have to write ads for people to click, it’s a good way to learn how to write killer ads. There are safelists, where you are emailed opportunities and you earn credits so that you can mail potentially thousands of people. The one safelist that I have had success with is List Joe.

A great way to get traffic is to write articles and submit them to article directories. The main one is Ezine Articles. If you get articles into the main directories then that can help you get some high rankings in the search engines, and it doesn’t cost you a dime. Writing articles can be hard work, and you can get freelancers to do if for you, but once you have started it does get easier.

There is a wide variety of paid and free advertising sites that you can use. This is something that you would have to investigate yourselves. The best of the online advertising sites is probably USFreeads or Craigslist it depends on what you are trying to achieve.

And then there is PPC, or pay per click advertising. What can I say about this, DON’T DO THIS unless you can afford to LOSE MONEY, or you know what you are doing. Just because someone clicks on your ads it does not mean that they are going to buy!!! Advertising on PPC can seriously damage your bank balance. Obviously if you get it right, then you could become your bank managers best friend. All of the main operations such as Google and Facebook offer coupons to new advertisers which can let you dip your toe into the water. If you are going to use PPC, then you need to understand all about keywords and you need to be able to find them. You can also have PPC ads put on your site, it doesn’t cost anything, and if people click them it could be some useful extra cash.
